For the past marking period I have ready the book the
hunger games. So far this book has started off very interesting. The
narrator of the book is only 16 years old her name is katniss everdeen.
She has a younger sister who is 12. Both her mother and sister depend on
katniss for survival. Katniss' father died mine explosion when she was
only 11. The reaming is a time in the story that is nerve racking for
girls and boys ages 12-18 because it will determine witch ones will
serve as a districts tributes in the hunger games. Two tributes will be
drawn from the each district. Once they are chosen they will be sent to
an arena where they would fight until only one tribute is alive in the
end. The tribute that wins gets to go home and his or her district will
be showered in gifts manley food. Prim (katniss' little sister) was
chosen at the reaping. But katniss steps up and offers to take prims
place and she becomes the girls tribute for that district. On the train
and on the to the capital katniss experiences luxury between the richest
and most decent food. After the ceremonies and they got introduced they
had to begin their training with their coach haymitch. Katniss' biggest
strength is archery so she needs to keeps that to herself and not let
the other tributes know about it. While katniss was sleeping she
suddenly woke up and noticed the careers ( the wealthier district)
formed an alliance and were out hunting the weak districts. She had also
noticed that peeta has joined there group to hunt. The next night while
katniss was asleep in the tree peeta and the careers pin her in the
tree. The young tribute rue from district 11 that was hiding in a near
by tree and pointed out something that could help her out. One day
katniss was following the screams of rue but by the time she got there
she saw the boy from district 1 spear rue to death. This year 2 tributes
can win as long as they are from the same district. After she did the
memorial for rue she went to find peeta because he was badly injured by
Cato. In the end katniss and peeta were on the train back to district 12
as heroes.
