History The civil rights movement had started in 1954, but before that there was a lot going on close to 100 years before that. Starting with the civil war that ended in 1865. When the civil war ended it was suppose to change everything between no slavery, equal protection between blacks and whites and the right to votes. All that didn't change though like in 1896 the plessy vs. ferguson case. On the railroad car they had a black car and a white car. Well this half black man went and sat in the white car and got kicked out. So that shows you that nothing really changed when it ws suppose to. The reason that it didnt change was because of the jim crow laws, it segregated colors. In 1920 was the harlem renaissance witch was all the black that migrated north, they all got talking about jazz and the great literature. And finally by 1954 everything was woreked out between the 13th,14th and 15th ammendment. ![]() History I read alot of current events today. I read one from Italy, Brazil,Somalia, and Beijin. My favorite one to read about was the one from italy. That one was about the cruze ship that sunk and the people on it where rich russians that greedy crew members sold seats to for a lot of money. While the boat was sinking poeple got onto the saftey boats to get to saftey. they ended up on an island called Giglio. They man who saw the boats coming in went out expecting to see a bunch of injured people but instead he found people who where fine and wear expensive party dresses and suits. There are 17 people still missing from that ship but divers are out there still looking for them. ![]() Essay project Alyssa Ruttler Advisory Phase 1955-1964 There were 3 pphases the first one was the advisory phase. during is eisenhower had started the "domino theory" because every president after him were having the same thoughts as him, like why are we in this war. They went through 3 presidents during this time, eisenhower,JFK, and JBL. The rvn was the republic vietnam and the u.s. and Ngo Din Diem were all for the south. Viet minh, chinese, russia, and Ho ChI minh were all for the north. But more people liked the north then the south because they did not like Ngo Din Diem. They had a thing called the garilla warfare that was pretty much young kids with out armer or weapons learning to fight for war. They had operation chopper witch was all of there choppers flew down to sargien to drop off men to get them into the under ground tunnels. The other one was operation rach hand that hese plains flew over the path from hanoi to sairgen with this gas killing everything it hits includding people. If you didnt die from it but it was on your skin you would burn to death. |

My link to my time line http://www.timetoast.com/timelines/america-early-20th-century The JFK speech on James Meredith After the trial of Brown vs. BOE and Plessy vs. Ferguson the civil rights movement wants to concure the desegregation. There were guards that had to stand out side the Little Rock Central high school to protect the students form going in.Eisenhower sent in the protection to protect the black prom getting beat up by the mobs. There was a lot of feduralism between orval faubus the govenor of arkansas because he wanted then to not go to the school together and eisenhower wanted them to go to the school together. There was also a case in ole miss when i young college boy James Meredith was not aloud into that school because he was black so he took it to the federal court and they said he still wasnt aloud in. So then he took it to the surpreme court and they had told him he was aloud in because color didnt matter. "Americans are free, in short,to disagree with the law but not to disobey it." In this quote JFK was talking about that people could have their own oppion of the law but they were never alout ot go against it, Sit-ins and Boycotts Marches,Boycotts and Voter registration where all examples of passive resistance for non- violence."They closed all city's public recreational facilities because they didnt want to see them integrated." 'Bull Connor helped the civil rights movement a whole lot, although that wasn't was he intended to do." "The black citizens were demonstraiting peacefully and non violently but Bull Connor threw them in jail anyway." "Martin luther king jr. decided to write a letter from bermingham jail and explain the reasons behind the civil rights movement." "The last to get ivolved were the high school guys, because the brunt of violence in the south was directed toward the black male." "When college students werent served because of there color of thier skin they stayed in their seats until police took them to jail." They held workshops to help the boys and girls of the high school overcome the fear of the crippling dogs and jail. A lot of people started to march from the church and when they did Connor called in fire men with there high pressured hoses and poilce men with there dogs.
Lynchings Lychings were intended to send the message that African Americans should leave things the way they are. The definition of lynching is to punish (a person) Indochina 1946-1954 Ho Chi Minh was the leader of viet minh. Most of the fighting was done in northern vietnam. It was a insurgency witch mean not a hard core military it was build from the ground up nothing big. chinese supported the viet minh and the communism was spredding. By 1949 the war had become conventional. they fought in Dien Bien Phu. They got their technology from the chinese. The french forces were professional troops. After the war the south and north got split byt the 17th parallel. south was the state of vietnam who was supported by u.s. and the north was viet minh who was supported by the chinese.
